Check, Check, Check...

Since I mentioned in an earlier post that I've been doing a bunch of painting, I figured it was only polite to share some before and after photos.

Before I do that, though, I'd like to make one thing clear, and I'm going to call this short explanation, "Painting and Me." ;-)

I like--but do not love--painting. I love painting when I'm drastically changing the appearance of an object or room, and I'm on my first coat. That's when I'm floating in the clouds of inspiration and motivation. Second coats? Third coats? Fixing little spots that chip off, after I've already put the painting can away? That's not nearly as much fun. ;)

Ahh, that being said... I am so very, very relieved that that several- week-painting spurt is over. During that spurt, I painted the chalkboard, a door for the top of the steps (not posted about yet), a whole bunch of wood trim (that Matt then installed in three different rooms in our house), the small dresser (pictured below), and [I helped to paint] a wall.

Smiles... okay. Back to photos time.

I wanted to spruce up this little dresser before Baby arrived, considering it was looking rather dingy... (see it? Under the window?)



We were hoping to save--and use--the original handles, but when Matt was removing them (to make it easier for me to paint the drawers), he concluded that they weren't worth saving. So...out with the old, on with the new!!



Now. Moving on to project #2...There used to be a door in our bedroom, which--many years ago--led to a small outside porch. But the porch has been long gone, and the door needed to leave as well. Matt took out the door, and installed a window in its place. After he hung drywall, this wall needed to be re-painted. (Bonus points if you know what movie's playing...)

So far, we've only painted one wall. This was the only wall that needed immediate attention, and we're still trying to decide if painting all four walls that chocolate brown will make the room too dark.



Our room isn't nearly finished, but at least there's been some progress. :-)

All of these projects have been either on the normal "to-do" list, or on my imaginery "Before Baby Comes" check list, so I'm thrilled to be checking these projects OFF our list!!
